Air Quality Alert Issued for Tuesday and Wednesday

Ozone levels will be high on both days

Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthful level for sensitive groups across the Garden State due to hot temperatures, sunny skies, and southwest winds, according to the Department of Environmental Protection.

People with heart and lung disease, older adults, and children are at a greater risk from exposure to ozone, and thus, are recommended to limit outdoor activity. In addition, fine particles are forecast to reach the moderate category.

Thunderstorms are expected to alleviate the poor conditions late in the day. May 30 - Ozone is forecast to reach the moderate category across New Jersey due to warm temperatures and partly sunny skies in between rain showers. Fine particles will remain in the good category due to the rain and northerly winds.
