Art for Achieve's Sake with Ellen Weisbord

Achieve supports the South Orange - Maplewood schools

Longtime Columbia High School art teacher Ellen Weisbord is teaching basketry and landscape collage at CHS for a Day. She brings both experience and expertise to the classroom.

"These are two art forms I deeply enjoy myself, and have found that my love for making baskets and doing collage is passed on to my fibers and design students," says Weisbord.  "Many adults often say they wish they could take my classes to learn these techniques as well."

The solution is obvious to Weisbord, an artist whose work is often shown around the community. "CHS for A Day is the opportunity to make this happen!"

And while this Saturday is just an introduction to what CHS offers, Weisbord says, "I have made my sessions two hours each because there is a lot to accomplish in a short time.  Everyone will walk away with a great introduction and will certainly be able to continue on their own."

The Achieve Foundation is proud to host CHS for a Day on March 16. Enjoy courses including physics, math, Shakespeare, genetics, art and computer skills. Participants shared lunch in the Cougar Cafe to round out the day. Registration forms will be available in January.
