Lauryn Hill Marks Release From Prison With New Single

Singer and South Orange resident Lauryn Hill is being released from prison after serving a three-month sentence for tax evasion.

Hill was sentenced to three months in prison in May for not paying taxes on more than $2.3 million in earnings over a five year period.

The eight-time Grammy winner is now releasing a new single called “Consumerism," according to Rolling Stone Magazine.

“Hill speed-raps through a laundry list of societal ills over a chaotic rhythm that's more Death Grips than 'Killing Me Softly,'” the article states. “Her pointed voice brutally targets 'corporate greed in Jesus’ name,' decrying ageism, sexism, racism, fascism, 'compromised commercialism' and 'neo-McCarthyism.'”
