After a long wait, the fifth annual Maplewood Green Day fair is coming back to town on Saturday, April 28.
Locals have been patiently awaiting for the good-and-good-for-you event that makes environmentalism fun. The last Maplewood Green Day took place in the fall of 2010.

But now Green Day is firmly planted in the spring — more closely aligned with Earth Day events.
The 2012 Maplewood Green Day will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Memorial Park directly across from NJ Transit Maplewood Station.
Green Day organizers have asked Patch to highlight these special features:

- Access to more than 100 green vendors and exhibitors for the ultimate green shopping experience
- Kids Environmental Show: The Habits that Save Habitats with Dave
- Street
- Bash the Trashperformance/build that combines science, music, and environmental awareness for a jam with musical instruments built from trash
- Live Animals of the Rain Forest presentations by Rizzo's Reptiles
- Kids learning activities with theLiberty Science Center
- Bring an appetite — there will be delicious organic and local food from over 10 restaurants
- Live bands all day including theDavid Easton Band, 8-Bit, Mood Ring, Jimmy Lee Ramblers, Kelly Jin-Hendel
- Demonstrations including backyard composting, local food cooking, rain gardens/rain barrels and fitness demos in yoga, kids fitness
- Join the eco-bike tour to visit local examples of solar, native plantings and xeriscaping
- Bring your bike and join the kids ciclovia, get a free bike tune-up with High Gear Cyclery and enjoy the Girl Scout bike rodeo.
- Planet-friendly fun activities include a giant 25-foot tall rock climbing wall, a petting zoo, face painting, kid's environmental games, and much more!
Those traveling to the event via bike can park them at the free monitored bike
parking lot. In addition, if you bring reusable water bottles, PUR20 is providing free filtered water for refilling water bottles.
