Smart Cards are coming to South Orange in January. The swipe cards, which can be purchased in increments of $10 up to a maximum of $200, will be accepted by Village pay-by-space machines and new electronic meters.
What new meters you ask? There are two new parking payment machines at the NJ Transit main train stations, and one at Mountain Train Station. Pay-by-space machines will continue to accept credit and debit cards, the new South Orange Smart Card, and old-fashioned money.
Smart Cards will be available, and can be refilled when the balance runs low at the NJ Transit lot or in the Parking Authority office. The South Orange Parking Authority is located in Village Hall on the second floor. The office is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
