Pet of the Week: Sunny

Ruff ruff! Hello everyone! My name is Sunny. I think the humans named me Sunny because I bring sunshine with me everywhere I go! I'm an American Bulldog mix. I have a beautiful white coat that I really enjoy getting dirty, but I'm totally comfortable when the nice volunteers handle my gorgeous body in a bath, you know, after I rolled in mud.

I'm a big boy with a lot of playful exuberance. I love going for walks, I come out of my cage with a lot of energy, that's just because I'm so excited to get out, but I do calm down after a bit. I tend to pull on the leash a bit, I'm quite big and strong, but I'm sure if I got regular exercise I'd walk even better on the leash!

I'd prefer to be the only doggie in a home, and I'd do best with big kids, I'm a big kid, myself! I'm only about 3 years old, and I love to play with my human friends. Don't let my size fool you, I'm a lap dog. One of my best human friends at the shelter lets me sit on her lap all the time! I just love it, and I thank her by giving her kisses on her ears!

I'm smart and food motivated (I love my treats), so I should be easy to train. I already know 'sit' and I wait patiently for my treat! I'm a big boy with a lot of love to give, why don't you come meet me? I'd really love a home of my own!

Sunny is available at the Jersey Animal Coalition Shelter located at 298 Walton Ave. in South Orange. Their hours are as follows:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: Noon - 7pm
Wednesday: Noon - 6pm
Thursday: Noon - 7pm
Friday: Noon - 6pm
Saturday and Sunday: Noon - 5pm
