Police Blotter: Warrant, Alcohol Arrests; Foiled Burglary

A look at recent police activity

*Lamir Cobb, 20, of Newark, was arrested on April 18 after police him and others acting suspiciously in the area of 76 S. Orange Ave. During questioning, police learned he had an outstanding arrest warrant from Newark. 

*A business owner on First Street reported sometime during the overnight hours of April 17 someone entered his business through an unsecured rear door and removed a 42” plasma television. 

*Michelle Leokumovich, 20, of Springfield  was arrested on April 17 for driving under the influence of alcohol after officers responded to the scene of a one-car accident on Scotland Road. 

*A Redmond Road. resident said sometime during the early morning hours of April 16 someone broke into his car by breaking the driver's side door lock. The victim said the only thing missing was the owner's manual.

*A business owner on Valley Street said on April 17 at approximately 8:50 p.m. an unknown male tried to enter his nail salon by using a pry bar on his front door. A witness to the incident said he saw a heavyset, dark skinned black man with a bald head and wearing a dark colored hooded sweatshirt attempting to enter with a pry bar. The witness said the man was also seen wearing latex gloves. The suspect fled in a black Jeep Cherokee after being confronted . 

*A Valley Street resident said on April 17 at approximately 12:36 p.m. his residence was burglarized. The victim  heard a loud bang and when he went to his front door to investigate he discovered a heavyset Hispanic male in his mid-20s placing a television into a car parked in his driveway. The man then after getting into the vehicle. The car is described as a small, blue in color and possibly a Ford. 

*Raymon Ortiz, 19, of Newark, was arrested on April 15 for possession of marijuana after he was seen by an officer to be in possession of it while sitting on a park bench in Grove Park. 

*Andrew Jewel and Solomon Rozental, both 18-year-old Seton Hall University students, were arrested on April 14 after they were seen exiting a liquor store on South Orange Avenue in possession of alcoholic beverages.
