Yesterday's storm started slowly with cold rain that cancelled soccer and saw parents shivering at the local spring egg hunt. By nightfall, South Orange and the surrounding area saw thunder, lightning, some reported and scattered power outages and -- according to totals from NOAA. gov -- more than two inches of rain.
The National Weather Service reports that Newark Airport measured 2.39 inches of rain. Accuweather.com suggests that some areas received upwards of three inches, making for soggy yards, playing fields and basements.
Today and tomorrow offer relief from rain; both days will be sunny with temperatures in the low 60s.
