Local author Luis Rodriguez has written, illustrated and published The Klampie Mystery, his first book, and is enjoying the glowing reviews the tale has garnered. (A list of reviews follows.)  The story, about a girl who travels to Australia, and receives "Klampie," a stuffed koala whose arms "clamp" onto things. The mystery of the title ensues when -- wait a minute! -- Samantha has to figure out whether her koala is a toy or the real animal.

EmilyReviews notes that, "The Klampie Mystery has turned into one of my all time favorite children’s books." She notes that the pictures are age-appropriate while the book is full of detailed and specific information, especially about travel. The reviewer notes, "For older children, there are a lot of learning opportunities involved with the book.  You can talk about where Australia is and the book even goes into detail as to how long the flight is from California and uses some Australian phrases.  It is definitely a fun learning tool for older children."
