South Orange Water Sources See Likely Shake-Up
South Orange's water comes from East Orange Water Commission and Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corporation

Trouble about water continues. The Newark Watershed Conservation and Development Corporation, which, along with East Orange Water Commission (EOWC), supplies water to South Orange, voted to dissolve itself March 25. This is according to a report in LocalTalk.com.
Newark supplies water to South Orange by way of the EOWC. According to EOWC information, the utility "approximately 670 thousand gallons of water per day from the City of Newark to service the demands of the system."
According to the report, "the watershed's ownership and operation has reverted back to the Newark Department of Neighborhood Services' Public Works-Water Division."

In addition, the report notes that East Orange City Council member are awaiting a status report on the East Orange Water Commission. The EWOC has been operating with an interim executive director since the then-director and an assistant director/engineer have been accused of falsifying monthly water quality reports March 5.
