Saturday, 9/11, offers residents opportunities to mingle, learn

Saturday, September 11, offers South Orange residents several opportunties to come together. The Village is sponsoring both a free Health Fair and a Newcomers Day, which are open to all residents. Events take place at Baird Center. In addition, the South Orange Public Library invites residents to remember the events of 9/11 with a program of events.

Health Fair, 10-2,  Events include:

  • Screenings
  • Blood Pressure - Hearing - Vision - Blood Glucose (fasting required)
    Spinal - Prostate - Skin Cancer - Oral Cancer
  • Education
  • Cancer - Dental
  • For Homes
  • Free Smoke Alarms - Free Radon Test Kits (limited supply)
    Free Electrical Safety Table
  • For Kids
  • Coloring Books - Face Painting
    Educational Handouts - Children's Identification Kits
  • Participants Include: Total Hearing Screening Care - NJ Eye Institute - Blood Center of NJ - S Orange Rescue Squad - S Orange Chiropractic Center - PSE&G - Seton Hall University School of Nursing and Division of Volunteer Efforts - Spa Lady of South Orange - Lions Club - East Orange WIC - Saint Michael's Medical Center - Essex County Rape Care Center - Masons of New Jersey - Pediatrician - Dentist - Nutritionist - Dermatologist

  • Newcomer Activities, 1 – 3, include:

  • Live music and kite flying
  • Meet Village Officials and Staff, as well as  representatives from Civic Organizations, Committee, Board, and Program Representatives who will supply information about Village Services.

    September 11th Commemoration
    Words & Images - 9 am – 5 pm
  • Commemorative Readings9-10 am (coffee/rolls served) and 4-5 pm
    Bring something to read aloud, choose from library selections, or come to listen.
