Part of the Mall at Short Hills parking lot where snow had been piled collapsed early Friday morning.
A section of some 15 parking spots in one corner of the lot outside Bloomingdale’s near John F. Kennedy Parkway crumbled in the overnight hours at the Millburn mall, according to a news report.
No one was injured and no property—other than mall infrastructure—was damaged.

Firefighters, building inspectors and mall engineers responded to the scene after the collapse was reported at approximately 5:10 a.m. Friday morning. The section of the lot was closed off to shoppers following the incident.
Officials with the mall suggest that rain and snow likely “played a factor” in the collapse, but the exact cause of the collapse was still unclear.
