Monday

Springfield's Special improvement District offers a presentation by The JGSC Group on their retail/marketing analysis of Springfield business. The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. at the Joe Pepe Training Room at the Fire Department Headquarters.

At 7:30 p.m., the Sisterhood ofTemple Sha'arey Shalom presents a winter workshop for the parents of teens and tweens, "FROM EYE-ROLLING TO I LOVE YOU: Repairing the Parent-Teen Relationship.”

The Charter Commission meets at 7:30 p.m., at the Museum in Springfield's Library.

Tuesday

The AAA car care center on rte 22 hosts an NJ Blood services blood drive from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wednesday

The Jewish Learning Center hosts its weekly "Torah in Our Times" roundtable doscussion, focusing on Jewish History, tradition, laws and customs, and the Talmud and Kabbalah. 

McLynn's holds its weekly open mic night. Full bands and individual musicians take the stage for a free form jam that changes every session. 

Thursday

The Women's Winter Basketball League season kicks off at Chisholm tonight. For more information, check the recreation department's calendar. 

Springfield Seniors hold their monthly meeting at 11:30 a.m. at the Sarah Bailey Civic Center. 

Friday

Chabad of Union County hosts a “Caffeine for the Soul” discussion on the Torah's lessons for family life at Barnes & Noble on Route 22. 

It's a big day for Dayton athletics, with the boy's freshman basketball team taking on Hillside at 4 p.m. the jv boys squad facing Hillside at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity team squaring off against Hillside at 7 p.m.

The girls JV and varsity squads play away games at Union Catholic Reg High School at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Dayton Hockey team takes on Scotch Plains at 9:10 p.m. at the Union Sports Arena.

Next week

Monday, Jan. 21 is Martin Luther King's Day. Springfield's Inter-Faith Clergy Council will have an observance honoring Martin Luther King, Jr., at 11 a.m., in the Kenneth Faigenbaum Committee Chambers on the second floor of Town Hall.
