Bergen Could Face Severe Thunderstorms Sunday
Air quality alert also issued until late Sunday.

Showers and severe thunderstorms are possible in Bergen County through Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in place for the area until 8 p.m., the weather service reported around 2:30 p.m. Small hail and gusty winds up to 50 mph are possible.
The area is also under an air quality alert until 10 p.m.

"Ozone is forecast to reach the unhealthy for sensitive groups category across New Jersey due to westerly winds, mostly sunny skies, and hot temperatures. Sensitive individuals including the very young, the elderly, and persons with respiratory diseases such as asthma, should avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the afternoon and early evening hours," an alert from the Department of Environmental Protection said.

This Afternoon: Scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be severe, with hail and damaging winds. Partly sunny and hot, with a high near 97. West wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. North wind between 3 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
