Bergen County Man Killed By NJ Transit Bus: Prosecutor

A Bergen County man was struck by a NJ Transit bus in North Bergen and died a day later of his injures, prosecutors said.

NORTH BERGEN, NJ — A man was struck by a NJ Transit bus in North Bergen on Tuesday morning and died a day later, prosecutors said.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, just before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Bergenline Avenue and JFK Boulevard East.

Police found an injured man – later identified as Alan Harris, 66, of Hackensack – who had been struck by the bus, which remained at the scene.

Harris was taken to Palisades Medical Center, where he died of his injuries on Wednesday, prosecutors said.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit assumed control of the investigation on Thursday after being notified of Harris' death, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors and the North Bergen police are still investigating, they said.

Another man was struck and killed by a bus in North Bergen during the morning hours earlier this year, according to news reports.
