Fatal 'Road Rage' Crash, Shalom Academy Among July's Top 10 Stories

A 63-year-old Teaneck woman was the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash on the Garden State Parkway and two drivers have been charged in her death, state police said. 

A carwash employee and an unidentified man pulled a woman from her sinking car after the vehicle  at a carwash, according to witnesses and authorities at the scene.

State officials rejected a bid to open a Hebrew immersion charter school for students in Englewood and Teaneck, saying the school had not proven it was ready and could not supply the required documents. 

A Cedar Lane liquor store was robbed of cash, authorities said. 

A 32-year-old Teaneck man accidentally shot himself late on Lindbergh Boulevard when a gun in his waistband slipped and he pulled the trigger trying to catch the weapon, according to police.

School media center upgrades, new social studies textbooks and curriculum initiatives are some of the district projects that could benefit from the $1.4 million once allocated to cover tuition for students enrolled at the proposed Shalom Academy Charter School. 

A judge has found probable cause to move ahead with a complaint by a longtime political foe of Teaneck’s deputy mayor, in which she accuses the now-Congressional candidate of leaking confidential information about her to the media.

Police interrupted a burglary in progress in Fort Lee, finding three men and a pillowcase filled with jewelry, authorities said.

Olympic fencer Maya Lawrence, a Teaneck-native, will leave the London Olympics with one victory against Italy's Mara Navarria. 

Although the No. 24 ranked Lawrence lost Monday in the next round to Italian epee fencer No. 7 Rossella Fiamingo, her victory comes after she overcame serious injuries to reach London. She beat the No. 9 ranked Navarria. 

A 72-year-old Teaneck man was arrested after he allegedly pulled a gun on a neighbor for farting outside his apartment, police said.
