Gov. Murphy: 45 More Coronavirus Deaths In Bergen County

Also, NJ senators said Bergen County is set to receive $8.3 million in emergency funding to help quell the spread of the coronavirus.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — As the new coronavirus continues to spread in New Jersey on Thursday, Gov. Phil Murphy said 45 people have died from the virus in Bergen County, bringing the county's death toll up to 120, according to the state's Department of Health. It was one of the highest numbers reported by the state for the county in one day.

According to NJDOH, the county now has 4,099 positive test results.

Thursday marks New Jersey's deadliest day in the COVID-19 crisis to date with 182 more deaths and 3,489 new cases reported. "Their memories are in our prayers," Murphy said. "I know these numbers are stark."

On Thursday, Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker announced a combined $82,202,575 in federal funding has been awarded to New Jersey.

The announcement was made in Bergen County, which is set to receive $8.3 million in relief funding, the largest single funding award in the state. Of the funding, $5,562,321 is set to come from the Community Development Block Grants, and $2,748,124 is set to come from Emergency Solutions Grants.

According to the NJDOH, Bergen County has 4,099 presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 and 120 deaths resulting from the coronavirus, its impact now reaching all 70 municipalities in the county.

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco shared an update on his Facebook page reflecting numbers available as of 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Here's how many cases have been reported in each Bergen County municipality:

Tedesco noted numbers may vary based on when they were reported, or based on case verifications or county attribution by NJDOH.
