Man Flees After Crashing Through Fycke Lane Home, Police Say

Two sleeping residents were woken up by what sounded like an explosion early Thursday, only to find that a car had crashed through the front of their Fycke Lane home, authorities said.

The driver, 32-year-old Teaneck resident Rashad Robinson, took off on foot from the crash scene near Lucy Avenue, according to police. Authorities soon received a 911 call reporting a shirtless man walking on I-95, near Route 80.

Ridgefield Park officers picked up Robinson on the highway and he now faces charges of driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit to a breath test and leaving an accident scene, said Teaneck Detective Sgt. Thomas Sullivan. Robinson was also wanted on warrants from Clifton and Saddle Brook, including one for driving with a suspended license.

The two residents, Steve and Roni Shayne, were later allowed back in their house after a building inspector found it to be structurally sound, according to a report on northjersey.com. Electric also was not knocked out.

A tree and a car parked in the driveway were also reportedly damaged, but there were no injuries.
