Inside "The Captain" With Sportswriter Ian O'Connor

Columnist Ian O'Connor was at Bookends to promote his new book, and sat down with Patch for an interview.

RIDGEWOOD -- Beloved Yankee captain Derek Jeter has been called by many "the perfect superstar," a sure-fire Hall of Famer and five-time World Series winner who has escaped the scandal that's befallen many.

Yet Jeter is also very private man and one who isn't perfect after all, according to ESPN NY sportswriter Ian O'Connor. O'Connor, who's covered the Yankees for 16 years as a columnist, was at Bookends Thursday night signing copies of his new book The Captain: The Journey of Derek Jeter, an unauthorized biography of the aging shortstop compiled after over 200 interviews.
