TOMS RIVER, NJ — Another TGI Fridays is being shuttered in Ocean County, continuing a string of closings by the restaurant company across the United States in the last year.

The Toms River location, at 1279 Hooper Ave. at the Ocean County Mall, is set to close on Thursday, WOBM 92.7 and the Asbury Park Press reported.

A message left for a TGI Fridays spokesperson seeking additional comment was not immediately returned.

The closure comes after the restaurant chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in November amid a wave of closing of underperforming locations during 2024.

TGI Fridays had 270 restaurants as recently as 2023 but that number had been reduced to about 160 locations as of November following closings that included a dozen in New Jersey, including the Brick site, which closed in May but is listed on the TGI Fridays website as temporarily closed.

An additional 30 locations have closed since November, Restaurant Business reported.

There are five TGI Fridays remaining in New Jersey, including one in Manahawkin.
