ATM Skimmer Found At Wawa After Bank Alerts Police In South Toms River

Anyone who used the ATM at the Wawa on Dover Road in early March is urged to check their bank accounts, South Toms River police said.

SOUTH TOMS RIVER, NJ — Authorities are continuing to search for the person who put an account skimming device on a PNC Bank ATM at the Wawa in South Toms River, South Toms River police said.

PNC Bank officials called South Toms River police on March 5 after the bank received an alert from one of the ATMs at the convenience store at 379 Dover Road, police said. Detectives found a device on the ATM machine.

Police Chief Michael C. Schneidt said that as of Wednesday, no fraud reports have been filed with South Toms River police.

Schneidt said detectives were continuing to work with Wawa's loss prevention team and PNC Bank to identify the person who placed the device.

People who used the PNC Bank ATM at the South Toms River Wawa around March 4 or 5 are being urged to check their bank accounts for possible fraud. Anyone who believes they were a victim of this or needs to file a police report should call South Toms River police at 732-349-0313, ext. 115, or 732-349-2010.
