Champs Sports Set To Close At Ocean County Mall
The longtime footwear retailer is one of 125 Champs Sports locations closing nationwide, according to reports.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Champs Sports, which has been a fixture at the Ocean County Mall for years, is closing down in January, an employee confirmed to Patch.
The footwear retailer, part of the Foot Locker company, announced the closing of the mall location with signs posted at the store, 94.3 The Point reported.
The closing is one of 125 locations across the country announced in March 2023 by Foot Locker, Champs Sports parent company, NJ.com reported.

Those closures are part of 400 stores Foot Locker is closing by 2026 as it shifts to a new strategy, Footwear News reported.
The Ocean County Mall location has about 10 employees, the store employee told Patch. It is anticipated to close by Sunday, Jan. 14.

There are 17 Champs Sports locations in New Jersey, including the Ocean County Mall location. There are two in Monmouth County, at Monmouth Mall in Eatontown and Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold, according to the company's website. It's unclear if any other New Jersey location is affected.
