Downed Lines Leave 2K Without Power In South Toms River, Beachwood
The outages were concentrated near Double Trouble Road.
SOUTH TOMS RIVER, NJ — More than 2,000 homes and businesses were without electricity on briefly on Wednesday morning in Beachwood and South Toms River after power lines came down.
The Ocean County Sheriff's Office was urging drivers to use caution in the area of Double Trouble Road near Tilton Avenue and avoid it if possible. The cause of the downed wires was not immediately available.
According to Jersey Central Power & Light's outage map, there were 845 of 1,346 customers in South Toms River without service and 1,475 of 4,077 in Beachwood, but power had been restored to the majority of those affected as of 11:30 a.m.
