UPDATE: Cruisin Downtown Car Show Kick Off Postponed

Series will run each month through October in Downtown Toms River

The May kick off of a monthly series of car shows in Toms River has been postponed until June because of weather concerns, organizers said.

Cruisin' Downtown will now begin on Wednesday, June 12, and an additional date has been added for Wednesday, Oct. 9.

"It was decided it would be best to cancel for the month of May and tag on a date in October," said Arleen Read, marketing director for Downtown Toms River.

When the show does kick off next month, organizers expect about 175 to 200 classic autos and 100 motorcycles to be displayed on Washington Street in Downtown Toms River. The shows will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. every second Wednesday of the month through September.

Music will be provided by Sidewalk Serenade and DJ Ken Schaffer, and food vendors and merchants will have items for sale, according to organizers. Local radio personalities are expected to give live reports of the show.
