Girl Scouts Celebrate Next Generation at Community Medical Center
Girl Scout alumnae group gives a gift to the first girl born on National Girl Scout Day at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ.

When you think of gifts for a baby, what comes to mind? Toys, onesies, blankets? How about Girl Scout cookies?
When new parents Robert and Destinee welcomed their daughter Harper at Community Medical Center in Toms River, NJ, on March 12, they became part of a very special tradition at the hospital, thanks to an annual gift from the Order of the Evergreen, the Girl Scout’s alumnae group.
March 12 marks the anniversary of the first Girl Scout troop meeting in 1912, and is designated as National Girl Scout Day. To celebrate, the Order of the Evergreen presents a gift to the first baby girl born on that day at Community Medical Center, an RWJBarnabas Health facility. The lucky family receives a gift basket including a handmade baby blanket, baby toys, and even some coveted Girl Scout cookies. The annual gift is coordinated by Community Medical Center’s Theresa Nielsen, who is also a member of the Order of the Evergreen.
