UPDATE: Hooper Avenue Pedestrian Strike Under Investigation
Victim transported to area hospital by helicopter after Tuesday night incident, police said
The Silverton man flown to an area trauma center after being struck by a car on Hooper Avenue Tuesday night is in stable condition, according to hospital staff.
The incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. just south of South Shore Drive, according to Toms River Chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.
Noah Huyler, 30, of Mello Lane was struck by a Pontiac traveling southbound on Hooper operated by Jessica Schiele, 22, of Twin Oaks Drive, the chief said.

Toms River EMS transported Huyler to Ocean County College grounds where he was then flown by a MONOC helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, Mastronardy said.
Photos provided by Toms River police show that the left side of the Pontiac's windshield is shattered and a portion of the hood is indented.

Huyler is in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon, according to Maureen Gillespie, public relations manager at the hospital.
Police have not announced any charges. Toms River Traffic Safety Officer David Bartoshek is investigating the incident along with Sgt. Robert Rankin, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, according to Mastronardy.
