McGuckin to Swear In Toms River Council Members
Annual appointments to be made at reorganization meeting

Assemblyman Gregory P. McGuckin (R-Ocean) will swear in four fellow Republicans who were re-elected to the Toms River Township Council in November.
Council members Maria Maruca, Brian Kubiel, Jeffery Carr and Alfonso Manforti were all re-elected by wide margins in November. All were incumbents, having previous served on the council.
As part of its reorganization, the council is posed to appoint Carl Dileo to serve as the Acting Tax Collector of the township, and the in-house township attorneys to serve as municipal prosecutors.
Additionally, the council is expected to introduce an ordinance that would re-establish the position of Deputy Police Chief in Toms River. The position was removed five years ago, with its duties being spread between three captains, following the retirement of Vince Pedalino, the last officer to hold the position.
Mayor Thomas Kelaher said he will recommend Capt. Steven Henry to be promoted to Deputy Chief.
"I’ve researched it, and it just makes good management sense to have a second in command," Kelaher said at a meeting in December.
Tuesday's meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the township municipal complex on Washington Street.
