TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Toms River man who was found with more than 1,000 images of child pornography last summer has been hit with new charges, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday.

Edward M. Lynch, 52, of Toms River, was charged with distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography on Sunday, Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Lynch was initially charged last August with possession of child pornography after the prosecutor’s office High Tech Crime Unit identified an IP address associated with a home in Toms River as the location where the images were being downloaded, Billhimer said.

An investigation into Lynch’s seized electronic devices by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crime Unit revealed that Lynch distributed more than 1000 items of Child Pornography by using the internet applications of Telegram, Session, and Wickr Me, Billhimer said.

Lynch surrendered himself to Toms River Township Police Headquarters on Sunday and was transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is currently lodged pending a detention hearing.
