Pharmacy Chain Closing More Locations In Toms River
The closings are just the latest round for the pharmacy chain that is under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River area residents who have used Rite-Aid for their prescriptions will have to find a new pharmacy, after the company announced another round of store closures that will shutter the last ones in town.
The newest store locations were reported by The Hill, after the chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy a second time last month.
There have been 100 total locations announced as being shut down out of about 700 throughout the United States, approximately half of the 1,240 retail stores that will be listed for sale.

Those three stores are the last remaining Rite Aid locations in Toms River. A nearby store in Bayville also is set to close.
Rite Aid first filed for bankruptcy restructuring in 2023, after the Philadelphia-based company had been struggling with losses for years. This time around it doubled down, citing its “only viable path forward” was a return to Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
