SUV Crashes Into Toms River Apartment, Injuring Occupant

Driver of SUV said that accelerator stuck, causing him to lose control and crash into the Terrace View Apartments

An occupant of a Toms River apartment unit was injured when an SUV crashed into her living room Monday afternoon, police said.

Police and multiple fire companies responded to the Terrace View Apartments just before 5 p.m. Monday after a 2001 Chevy Blazer driven by township resident Randy Reddiconto, 23, collided into building D, said chief of Police Michael Mastronardy.

Sally Thomas was inside of her apartment when the SUV crashed into the living room. She received a minor leg injury and was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment, according to Mastronardy.

Reddiconto was traveling eastbound on Partridge Street when he reported his vehicle's accelerator became stuck, causing him to lose control and cross over Vaughan Avenue and into Thomas' apartment, the chief said.

The Island Heights Volunteer First Aid Squad transported Reddiconto to Community Medical Center with a minor injury.

Officials from the Toms River building department responded and condemned two apartments. The apartment complex's property manger responded to assist with finding accommodations for the residents that were displaced by the crash, Mastronardy said.

Toms River Fire Companies No. 1 and 2 responded to the scene, along with fire companies from East Dover and Silverton. Accurate Towing removed the vehicle from the building, Mastronardy said.

Traffic Safety Officer David Bartoshek is investigating the crash, according to Mastronardy.
