Toms River Cops Bust Suspected Heroin Dealer at Ocean County Mall
Police conducted surveillance after receiving tips; Manchester man faces charges
Toms River police conducted surveillance at the Ocean County Mall on Wednesday after receiving tips from citizens about drug activity and arrested a man on drug distribution charges.
As a result of the information and subsequent surveillance and investigation, members of the police department's Special Enforcement Team located and arrested Jay Taylor, 22, of the 1000 block of 6th Avenue in Manchester, near the bathroom facilities in the mall around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Taylor was found to be in possession of 309 bags of heroin and $4,853 in US currency, police spokesman Ralph Stocco said. Both were seized as proceeds of Taylor’s alleged criminal activity.
Taylor was charged with possession of heroin and with possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance (heroin). His bail was set at $30,000 cash and he was transported to the Ocean County Jail.
Taylor also had a no bail arrest warrant from Ocean County for violating the terms of his previous drug court agreement, Stocco said.
