Toms River Cops Seeking Suspect in Two Robberies

Toms River police are searching for a man who may be behind two robberies in the township Thursday night.

The first took place at 5:30 p.m. at the Krauszer's store on Hooper Avenue and James Street, according to Police Chief Michael Mastronardy. A suspect, described as a white male, 5'6", 170 pounds and wearing a black mask, demanded money but got away without any proceeds.

He was observed fleeing on a bike and fleeing westbound on James street, said Mastronardy.

A man fitting the same description – but with the hood up, and wearing black gloves – showed up at the Carters store in the Toms River Shopping Center just before 7 p.m. and told the clerks that he had a gun, although no weapons were show, said Mastronardy.

The man got away with "a few hundred dollars," the chief said.

Officers Greg Errion, James Skripko, Ryan Quinn, Sergeant Ed Mooney, Detectives Louis Santora, Jen Grob and Ocean County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
