Transformer Issue Knocks Out Power In Toms River: Sheriff
The non-emergency number at the Toms River Police Department also is not working, the Ocean County Sheriff's Department said.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — More than 2,500 homes and businesses remained without power Monday evening due to a transformer issue on Hooper Avenue, officials said.
The Ocean County Sheriff's office said the Toms River Police Department's non-emergency number is affected and not working. Those with emergencies should call 911, as the emergency lines are still operational, the sheriff's office said.
Chris Hoenig, a spokesman for Jersey Central Power & Light, said the outage resulted when a feed into the local substation tripped. He said the cause was still undetermined.
