Vigil To Honor Domestic Violence Victims Set In Ocean County

TOMS RIVER, NJ — The statistics on domestic violence are sobering: Nearly 3 in 10 women and 1 in 10 men in the United States have experienced violence at the hands of a partner.

Nearly 1 in 4 domestic violence court cases had children as witnesses, according to The Hotline, a resource for victims of domestic violence.

Thursday evening, Ocean Partnership for Children is hosting its sixth annual Domestic Violence Candlelight Vigil in downtown Toms River.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at 36 Washington St., and will have guest speakers beginning at 6 p.m.

The event honors the resilience and strength of all those impacted and in memory of those who have lost their lives due to domestic violence.

In support of Providence House, attendees are invited to bring a donation item to benefit survivors and their families.

Ocean Partnership for Children was founded in 2005 and its mission is to enhance the well-being of youth and their families through natural and community supports. The organization provides care coordination services for Ocean County youth up to the age of 21 who face mental health, substance use, and intellectual or developmental challenges. OPC aims to keep children and adolescents at home, in school, and in the community by connecting them to resources that meet their unique needs and help them achieve their goals.
