Backpack Collection for Those in Need Underway in Kinnelon
School supply donations will be accepted until Thursday.

The Kinnelon Health Department is once again collecting backpacks and school supplies for Kinnelon families in need during its annual supply drive.
Donations will be accepted until Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and can be made at the Kinnelon Health Department office in the
Last year, through the progam, an effort first started in 2005 by health department director Gail Flammer and resident Melissa Giacoio. Every August, the health department collects supplies to be given to families who sign up for the program and cannot afford to purchase new items for the upcoming school year. Flammer reaches out to families who use the Kinnelon Food Pantry to see what their needs are and what items the students would benefit from.

"You don't realize that there are people in need everywhere," Flammer said during last year's donation drive.
In addition to backpack and school supply donations, monetary and gift card donations are accepted as well. Gift card donations for $25 or less are preffered.
