Man With Pink Crystals Chokes Himself In Riverdale

A manwho authorities said was acting strange and tried to choke himself was later arrested on drug possession charges at the Best Buy in Riverdale.

Riverdale Police responded to a call about a man acting strangely in the Best Buy parking lot at about 5:30, last Wednesday evening. The man was leaning against his car, police say, choking himself with his own hands. When pressed, the man, identified later as 31-year-old Ray Martinez from Paterson, wouldn't say what was afflicting him. Police say he seemed to be breathing fine, but he was sweating profusely and would every now and then, kick his legs out.

After some time, police say the man told them that he was being choked by some unknown assailant standing behind him. PLRFS--the Pompton Lakes/Riverdale First Aid Squad--arrived and found a baggie of pink in his pocket, which authorities later identified to be MDMA, or "Molly."

Martinzez was taken to Chilton Hospital and then later charged with Possession of CDS (3rd degree crime) and issued a summons for Driving While Suspended. He has a September court date at Morris County Central Judicial Processing.
