Part-Time Business Administrator Starts in Butler

Savings from transition from full-time business office to be spent on education.

new part-time business administrator, David Rinderknecht, started working for the district this month and was introduced to the public by Superintendent Mario Cardinale at Monday's board of education meeting.

Rinderknecht has several years of experience in the education field, Cardinale said, including serving as a former interim business administrator in Paterson, according to NorthJersey.com, and as a business administrator in the Ramapo-Indian Hills school district. Cardinale and Rinderknecht had worked together at one point in the Ramapo-Indian Hills district and Rinderknecht said Monday his experience with Cardinale enticed him to come to

The Ramapo-Indian Hills school district has a conference room named after Rinderknecht, a testament to his esteem, Cardinale said.

Rinderknecht was hired in conjunction with the Passaic County Educational Services Commission through a program in which the administrator's position and all secretarial positions in that office are outsourced. as a way for the district to save money that could be repurposed for educational services, such as appointing curriculum supervisors, hiring a Child Study Team member at the K-4 level and hiring a special education supervisor for grades 5-12.

As a result, the business administrator's time working for the district will be reduced from five days per week to three or three-and-a-half days per week. The Butler Board of Education unanimously in May.

Rinderknecht began working in Butler July 1 and will work through a six-month contract, at the end of which the district, Passaic County Educational Services Commission and Rinderknecht will decide if they would like to continue with his services.
