Police Log: Shoplifting Among Recent Complaints In Riverdale
Riverdale Police make recent arrests for shoplifting and marijuana possession.

Police arrested a 48-year-old on Tuesday for trying to make off with CDs and T-shirts from the Riverdale Walmart:
Sept. 13
Police officers were called to the Riverdale Walmart for a shoplifter, according to a recent police report. They arrived on Tuesday afternoon to find the suspect was already in custody. The suspect, a 48-year-old from Wanaque, had tried to steal CDs and T-shirts totaling about $34, according to police. Store security stopped the gentleman before he could leave. Police charged the Wanaque man with Shoplifting and released him with a municipal court date in September.

Sept. 15
Riverdale police spotted a car with a broken brake light and pulled the car over on Route 23, South. The driver of the silver VW Jetta made an abrupt turn onto Macopin Avenue and then came to a stop. The patrol officer smelled burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle and found a plastic bag with marijuana in the car. The officer arrested the 21-year-old driver, from Elizabeth, and charged him with Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams (disorderly person offense). He was also given tickets for Possession of CDS in a M.V., Maintenance of Lamps, and Unclear Plate and released with a September municipal court date.
