$2,000 Worth of Tools Stolen from Hamilton Road Driveway

April 5:
Police and firefighters responded to a brush fire on the Hilltop property at 6:24 p.m. The Essex Count Sheriff’s Department will investigate the fire’s cause.

April 7:
An Edison resident told police he lost his wallet while shopping on Bloomfield Avenue.

A Bloomfield Avenue business owner told police they ordered a banner online and paid a $400 deposit. The business then reported the online company asked for an additional payment. The business has been unable to get a response from the online company or proof of the banner.

A Hamilton Road resident told police someone entered his car at 1:34 p.m. while it was parked on the driveway and stole $2,000 worth of tools.

Verona police are investigating property damage to a car that was egged by several youth at 11:11 p.m. while the car was at the traffic light at Lakeside and Bloomfield avenues.

April 9:
A cleaning crew for a Bloomfield Avenue business told police when they arrived at the business at 4:56 a.m., an exterior door was found open. In addition, there was damage to a rear entry door, an ATM machine and the office door. The business reported several thousand dollars in cash was also missing.

April 10:
A Claremont Avenue resident told police at 2:02 p.m. a car tire was damaged after striking a large pothole on the street.

April 11:
Jesse Simunovich of Caldwell was arrested for marijuana possession at 4:10 p.m. after residents reported someone was possibly smoking marijuana at the intersection of Oakridge and Morningside roads. Police stopped Simunovich while he was walking on Oakridge Road and he admitted to smoking marijuana. He was transported to headquarters, processed and released with a summons.

A Newman Avenue resident told police at 5:40 p.m., she heard a loud noise coming from her dining room. The woman checked the room and saw a hole in a window screen and a rock resting between the screen and window. No further damage was reported.

April 12:
A Lynwood Road resident told police his car was damaged when he struck a piece of concrete in the roadway on Ozone Avenue at 8:35 a.m. No damage estimate was available.

Police are investigating a disorderly conduct incident involving four Newark juveniles at Everett Field at 8:09 p.m. 

The girls were demanding free food from the concession stand and allegedly threw a metal object almost striking several other juveniles in the area.

The adult responsible for the juveniles was located and advised of the incident as well as told to not return to the area.
