Cedar Grove Woman Charged in Infant Assault
Ania Marcinkiewicz held on $300,000 bail for allegedly fracturing eight-week-old daughter's skull.

A 35-year-old Cedar Grove woman was arrested after she allegedly fractured the skull of her eight-week-old baby girl, officials with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Cedar Grove police officials said.
Ania Marcinkiewicz was charged with one count of second-degree aggravated assault and two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child after she allegedly assaulted her eight-week-old baby girl in her Cedar Grove home sometime between March 22 and March 23 resulting in a fractured skull and other injuries to the child.
Marcinkiewicz was also cited for failing to obtain medical attention for the baby after the incident, officials said.
She is currently being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in lieu of $300,000 bail and was required to surrender her passport and give up any contact with the victim. The child is currently under the care of state Division of Youth and Family Services officials.
The investigation is continuing and no further information is available at this time, officials said.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray lauded the Cedar Grove Police Department — led by Det. Sgt. John J. Kennedy and Det. Michael Tower as well as Essex County Prosecutor’s Office detectives, Special Victims Unit, led by Captain Arnold Valentin — in the case.
