Farewell to Farawell: Verona Knocked out of State Tourney

Verona’s Cloin Farawell had a hard day at the state wrestling tournament in Atlantic City on Saturday, losing two matches and exiting the competition.

Farawell fought hard against Tyler Rios in a quarterfinal match early in the day, taking the Highland Park grappler to a third overtime before being pinned for a loss at the 7:58 mark.

Farawell’s bad luck continued in his consolation match against Connor Gabriel of Roselle Park, succumbing to a 16-5 decision for an early exit.

The state tournament continues into Sunday.
