VERONA, NJ — Several Verona police officers were recently commended for their response to a shooting that wounded four people outside a local event venue earlier this year.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, investigators allege that a verbal argument started inside a party at Palmetto Venues in Verona on the evening of March 15 and spilled out into the street. The suspects then began exchanging gunfire. Four people suffered non-life-threatening wounds.

“This appears to be an isolated incident between individuals attending a private party at Palmetto Venue,” police said, adding that there is no threat to the public.
