New Police Chief Takes Reins In Cedar Grove (VIDEO)
John Kennedy retired from the police department after three decades of service. Francis Pumphrey was sworn in as new chief this week.

CEDAR GROVE, NJ — An official changing of the guard took place for the Cedar Grove Police Department this week.
Chief John Kennedy recently retired from the police department after 30 years of service to the township.
Francis Pumphrey has taken up the reins as Kennedy’s replacement. He was promoted to chief at the town council meeting on Monday.

Pumphrey began his career with the Cedar Grove Police Department in 1999 as a dispatcher, and in 2000 was hired as a police officer. He attained the ranks of sergeant in 2007, lieutenant in 2016, and captain in 2022.
