Manasquan, Wall, and Shore Area Groups to Host Mental Health First Aid Workshops

The Mental Health First Aid workshop will take place on Monday, November 17 and Wednesday, November 19 in Manasquan.

As the next step in the “.. Say Something..” series, the Wall Alliance, the Shore Community Alliance and the Churches of the Manasquan Area Ministerium are hosting two 4-hour Mental Health First Aid workshops in Manasquan.

Together, the alliance hopes to help people learn the skills to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses
and substance use disorders. Mental Health First Aid will be an in-person training, and will also teach people how to help someone developing a mental illness or in a crisis.

The Mental Health First Aid workshops will specifically teach:

  • Signs of addictions and mental illnesses
  • 5-step action plan to assess a situation and help
  • Impact of mental and substance use disorders
  • Local resources and where to turn for help

A grant from the Mental Health Association helps make this a free event, but pre-registration is required. Visit www.FBCManasquan.org to register.

The sessions will take place on Monday, November 17 and Wednesday, November 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., at at the First Baptist Church, located at 51 South Street in Manasquan.
