Massage Therapist Faces Sex Charges After Wall Twp. Incident

WALL, NJ — A male massage therapist at a Wall business has been charged with criminal sexual contact and sexual assault after an investigation of a complaint by a female customer, police said.

Wall Township police charged Stefan J. Barnes Jr., 31, of Manchester, following an investigation of an incident May 23 at Massage Heights, 2157 State Highway 35 in Wall, according to a police report.

On that day, a woman, 23, came to Wall Township Police Headquarters to report that earlier in the evening she had attended a massage session at Massage Heights, police said. She told Patrolman David Smithman that Barnes, who is employed there, was her massage therapist.

During the massage, she alleged that Barnes touched her inappropriately in the groin area on two separate occasions during the session, police said.

The investigation by Smithman and Detective Shane Roland led to the arrest of Barnes on Tuesday, June 6. He was taken into custody without incident and was later transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold, police said.
