WALL, NJ — A Monmouth County native and Wall High School graduate is making New Jersey proud after he was selected in the 2025 MLB draft.
Andrew Fischer, a junior at the University of Tennessee and a third baseman on their baseball team, was selected in the first round of the draft by the Milwaukee Brewers and was the 20th pick overall.
In the 2025 season, he tied the Tennessee single-season walks record with 63 and led the SEC with 25 home runs, the second-highest single-season total in program history, according to his university profile.

“Fischer's signature tool is his plus power that works to all fields, the product of a left-handed swing with bat speed and loft, strength in his 6-foot-1, 210-pound frame and a slugging mindset,” his MLB scouting profile reads.
“He showed that he can launch balls in the air with wood bats last summer in the Cape Cod League,” the profile continues. “He has been even more productive as a junior after toning down his approach and chasing pitches a lot less, and he also did a better job of handling sliders.”

In an MLB interview following the draft, Fischer said he wants to model his game after Bryce Harper and described the Brewers as “a great place to be.”
“I just want to go out there and play and I want to win,” Fischer said on MLB Network. “The Brewers have a ton of young talent and it’s a great place to be.”
Back in Monmouth County, Fischer has received plenty of love from friends, family and fellow New Jerseyans, including Monmouth County officials and the Wall Township Public School District.
“From Duke to Ole Miss to Tennessee, the Wall High School graduate has taken every opportunity to showcase his talent and establish himself as one of the premier all-around hitters in this year’s draft class,” the county government said in an online post.
“The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners proudly congratulates Andrew Fischer on this remarkable achievement and wishes him continued success in his professional baseball career.”
