Pedestrian, 78, Hit By Maserati, Critically Injured On Rt. 35 in Wall

Authorities say the driver of the Maserati, an 82-year-old man, stayed at the scene.

WALL, NJ — A 78-year-old man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Monday after he was hit by a car while crossing Route 35 in Wall Township, the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said.

The prosecutor's office is investigating the crash, which happened about 11:20 a.m. Monday on Route 35 at Warren Avenue, Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said.

The man, whose name and hometown were not released, was crossing Route 35 from east to west when he was hit by a 2007 Maserati driven by an 82-year-old man, the prosecutor's office said.

The driver was trying to turn left onto southbound Route 35 at the time, authorities said. The driver stayed at the scene.

No charges or summonses have been issued but the prosecutor’s office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART), and the Wall Township Police Department are investigating.
