The program runs to Aug. 3, on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at police headquarters, 2700 Allaire Road.

In the first session, a Neff's Nutrition expert gave a creative, activity-based presentation on diet and nutrition. A representative from Atlantic Physical Therapy joined the program later and did a medicine ball exercise with the group, while discussing optimal activity times and exercise for youth.

The group then ventured back to an obstacle course at police headquarters where participants completed rigorous physical challenges as a team, police said.

Hosted by the Wall Police Department, each week young participants will get insight into the different areas of fitness, ranging from nutrition to post workout/recovery. The topic of the day will be taught by local gyms, health centers and nutritionists.

Look for advice from other experts soon, such as Landmark Athletic & Fitness, AMPD Fitness, Recovery Zone and more.
