Culvert Project to Close Liberty Corner Road
Officials say local traffic should not be impacted.

Warren Township is hammering out a agreement with Somerset County to handle an upcoming project that will close Liberty Corner Road between Tanglewood and Pinewood roads this fall.
Township police pushed back on a county plan to detour traffic on the road through Dock Watch Hollow Road, and are working to try and get the detour traffic detoured to Mt. Bethel Road instead.
"You do not want traffic on Dock Watch Hollow," Township Administrator Mark Krane said during a discussion of the project at the July 18 Township Committee meeting.
The township is hoping to get detoured traffic heading for Route 78 to stay on Mt. Bethel, but committee members noted traffic on the way to the Liberty Corner corporate center will be impacted—as well as the already-busy Mt. Bethel.
"You do realize this is going to put more traffic on Mt. Bethel Road, which is already creeping and crawling along?" Committeewoman Carolann Garafola said.
Krane said the project is expected to begin early in October, with the road closed until the end of the road.
"Obviously, the residential traffic will find their own way through the neighborhoods," Krane said.
Garafola suggested a sign placed by the township would be helpful.
"Could we put up a sign that says, 'Prepare for Unbelieveable Traffic?" she said.
