Florida Man Carjacked In Somerset County, Police Say

A 25-year-old Florida man told police he was carjacked around 9 p.m. in the area of Duer Street and Gavin Place on Thursday.

A 25-year-old Florida man told North Plainfield police he was carjacked around 9 p.m. in the area of Duer Street and Gavin Place on Thursday night.

The Tallahassee resident said he pulled his rented 2015 black Chevy Tahoe, with Florida license plate #460YSV, onto the side of the road on Duer Street to type in an address on his GPS device, according to the Somerset County Prosecutors Office.

It was then that the victim said two Hispanic males approached him. One approached the passenger side brandishing a silver revolver and the other on the drivers side, demanding the driver exit the vehicle.

“The victim also stated that the suspects robbed him of a watch and an undisclosed amount of money, the Prosector’s Office said. “The victim complied with the demands of the assailants, who fled in the Tahoe, northbound on Duer Street, and then east onto Howard Street.”

He did not sustain any injuries during this event.

The suspects are described as:

Suspect 1:

  • Hispanic male
  • Early twenties
  • Approximately 5’2”
  • Approximately 125 pounds
  • Short “spiky” black hair

Suspect 2:

  • Hispanic male
  • Late teens
  • Approximately 5’9”
  • Approximately 165 pounds
  • With a “Caesar” style haircut
  • Thin face

Prosecutor Soriano states that detectives are seeking the public’s assistance of anyone who may have observed two individuals matching the provided descriptions of the suspect’s at or around the time of the incident and the location.
